Tanged arrowheads

Tanged arrowheads are the earliest type of bronze arrowhead and are sometimes barbed. They show great similarity with the stone arrowheads which preceded them. They are very rare finds in Britain.

Dating and distribution

Date: 2150-1500 BC
Distribution: They are so rare there is not particular distribution pattern.

Socketed Arrowheads

Socketed arrowheads, whilst originally noted as being absent from UK finds have appeared across England, with the majority being found in the Midlands, with an example each from north Yorkshire and Shropshire. These artefacts are often found heavily corroded and thus can easily be mistaken for a small spearhead.
