The Moro name was very distinguished in the Republic of Venice, with Cristoforo being the eleventh family member being elected as doge. Moro’s time in office was overshadowed by a long war with the Turks who threatened the territories of Venice through aggressive conquest. Moro was actively engaged in helping the poor in Venice, and bequeathed his estate to various charities. Cristoforo Moro is buried in the church of San Giobbe.
