Roman influences in West Cornwall

Principal investigator: Liam
Level: Undergraduate

I am a student on the Advanced Diploma of British Archaeology course at the University of Oxford Continuing Education Department and am studying Roman influences on west Cornwall for my dissertation, due for completion August 2021. My hypothesis being that Roman influences may be visible (a) during the Iron Age due to ongoing relationships with Rome, (b) at Roman sites, and (c) at Romano-British sites. I hope to create a synthesis of current evidence, including material culture, with the emphasis on seeing if the available evidence can help show the extent of Roman influence. This study is centred on west Cornwall - including Penwith, Kerrier and parts of Carrick using the Fal estuary/Truro as its eastern boundary.
