Principal investigator: Liam
Level: PhD level research
My research will explore the development of LIA settlements and harbours along the west Thames Tideway, examining their importance in trade, transport and defence, and their relationship with the Roman world at this time. It will be the first to study LIA settlement and society comprehensively from the context of the tidal river, understanding the interactions occurring and analysing new evidence from recent excavations and surveys alongside unpublished literature and archaeological archive material to form a new understanding of the region.
I aim to conduct this study in the form of a PhD officially beginning next year but for which I have already begun compiling research and evidence.
