Zoomordphic Brooches

I am a undergraduate student studying archaeology and landscape history at University Centre Peterborough. The aim of my dissertation is to identify the distribution patterns of Romano-British zoomorphic brooches and research what the animals symbolise, in an attempt to identify whether these zoomorphic brooches were simply aesthetically pleasing, or had possible links with religion and deities. By researching into the types and distribution patterns, an up to date picture should emerge. This could give clues as to regionalised types of brooches and indeed cults. I plan to use the PAS database to identify distribution patterns, types, and aesthetical details of the brooches in question. This project should be completed by May 2019.
