I am preparing an Archaeological and Historic Landscape Survey for the National Trust at Lacock Abbey and associated estate land (264a).
This requires documentary and fieldwork research to create a report bringing together the archaeological and historic evidence for Lacock. The report, with accompanying photographs, maps and illustrations, will provide understanding of the existing landscape to give information for the correct conservation management of the property. The report will provide essential information and advice to determine priorities historic designed management, hedgerow and stone wall conservation and inform the locations for tree planting, woodland management and other land use issues likely to impact on the historic environment.
The report will be disseminated to National Trust property staff, National Trust head office, Wiltshire HER & Historic England.
Wiltshire HER have kindly provided data & GIS data which is up to date in terms of events, but not necessarily finds. access to the spatial data within the PAS database wil help us better understand the archaeology and development of the Lacock area.
