Network analysis of the distribution of food plants in Roman and Medieval Britain is a new project hosted at the Department of Archaeology of the University of Nottingham and directed by Dr. H.A. Orengo and Dr. A. Livarda. The project aims at analysing the distribution of archaeobotanical remains in Britain by using Social Network Analysis in combination with Spatial Network Analysis in order to study the food plant trade and the changing societies in Britain. The Spatial Network analysis part of the project involves the reconstruction of the Roman and Medieval road networks in Britain. To do so, PAS data are essential in order to fill-in current gaps and provide a much better resolution of the road networks, and hence allow more in-depth analysis and interpretations of the Spatial Network under study.
