Healthcare and medicine in Roman Britain

Principal investigator: Liam
Level: Masters degree

I am studying for an Mphil in Classical Archaeology at the University of Oxford. My dissertation focuses on healthcare and medicine in Roman Britain, with particular emphasis on exploring social and religious distinctions. This study will include many types of evidence, however there will be a particular focus on the distribution of small finds (such as surgical tools, amulets, and votive offerings). Access to research level PAS data will provide an opportunity to map, study, and compare the distributions of several different types of objects accurately. This will allow a reflection on how health and healing were implemented in different ways throughout Britain and over time. The deadline for this project is June 2014.
