Principal investigator: Liam
Level: PhD level research
I am currently studying for an AHRC funded PhD in Archaeology at the University of Bristol.
My PhD focuses on investigating the Viking Age cemeteries at Repton in Derbyshire, through isotopic analyses of human remains. I am carrying out strontium and oxygen analyses of tooth enamel to investigate geographical origins, and carbon and nitrogen analyses to investigate diet.
As a part of this research I wish to place the scientific data acquired from the skeletal material within the wider context of the Scandinavian presence in and around Repton. I would therefore like to access the PAS data from the surrounding regions to investigate any trace of settlements, as well as signs of Viking activity in this area following the archaeologically and historically attested presence of the Viking Army in Repton in the late 9th century.
