Society, economy and material culture in Anglo-Saxon England

Principal investigator: Liam
Level: Personal research project

I am an established researcher and teacher in early medeval archaeology (for career details and publications see www.chrisscull.co.uk) for whom research-level access to the PAS database would be of great value for my long-term work on society, economy and material culture in Anglo-Saxon England, and for three specific research projects with which I am formally involved: analysis and publication of the Staffordshire Hoard; analysis and publication of the Prittlewell Princely Burial, and field survey and investigation at Rendlesham, Suffolk. In all cases my interest is in comparanda and artefact densities and distributions. Ideally I should like to retain access to this research resource for the remainder of my professional career.

I was Research Director at English Heritage 2005-2010 and am currently Honorary Visiting Professor, Department of Archaeology and Conservation, Cardiff University; Honorary Visiting Professor, Institute of Archaeology, University College London; and a Council Member of the Society of Antiquaries of London.

Although I have activated the "no" button below the Staffordshire Hoard is, of course, on the PAS research register.
