Late Roman transition of Northumbria

Principal investigator: Liam
Level: PhD level research

My Phd research focuses on the late-Roman through early-medieval transition time period. I am examining two study areas in the former kingdom of Northumbria; one north of Hadrian's Wall in the Milfield Basin and another in the Yorkshire Wolds. I am using GIS to examine settlement patterns to determine what the previous affect of Roman Britain was on the establishment of Anglo-Saxon communities. In order to do this I am inputting data from previously excavated/recorded archaeological sites in the two study areas. I believe the PAS data will provide additional context for the analyses I plan on performing.

I am currently in my second year of my Phd, and plan to finish in the next two years.
