Level: PhD level research
I am presently a part-time PhD candidate at Southampton University looking at Roman rural settlement in central southern England. My research commenced in February of this year, so that my exact approach still remains uncertain, although I am most concerned with economic aspects of the subject. In particular, I would like to consider the use of the Portable Antiquities Scheme database to search for possible periodic markets in my study area (e.g. places where there a large number of coins, especially of low value, and perhaps small artefacts, in a relatively limited area). My PhD status lasts until 31/01/17 at present although I aim to conclude by 2015. The referee below is my PhD supervisor at Southampton.
