Downloading HER data

Since  May 2005, when the NCMD and other organisations came to an agreement over transfer and publication of PAS data, it has been possible to export data. To do so, is relatively straight forward, all you need to do as an HER member is to follow these steps:

  1. Register on the website at http://finds.org.uk/users
  2. Activate your account from the email that is sent to you
  3. Once you have logged in, you will see a link for requesting an upgrade. Fill this in and give a reason for why you want data access and a referee for us to contact
  4. Once submitted, we will consider the request and grant access if we agree with your need. You will get an email with a reminder of the terms and conditions.
  5. Your account is personal. You must not transfer it to any one else.

Once your account is active as an HER user, you can now go ahead and download data. Create a search, for example:

County = Cambridgeshire

Submit the search and then at the bottom of the page of results, you will see a link labelled 'hero'. If you click on this, you will be able to download a spreadsheet of finds data in exegesis format. (We have no exegesis knowledge, so won't be able to help you with uploads!)
