March 2020, what now?

Hello Kent Finders!

As we are all aware Covid-19 and the restrictions to counter the virus are heavily restricting how we can all operate. Here at the PAS in Kent this is no different. Withimmediate effect we will not be able to meet finders, attend meetings or return finds as we’ve been asked to work at home.

In the meantime, regarding treasure we will work as we did during Christmas and holiday periods. Let the FLO know with an image, the findspot, date of find and the contact details (including email where possible) for you and your landowner.

For the duration of the period of isolation we’d still like to keep things ticking over with easy to record objects like coins, tokens and jettons. So, for these nice flat objects if you can get us a nice clear image with a scale, the findspot, diameter and weight we can do records like this until we can begin taking records in again. For all other finds and finds return please bear with us and when we can get back to meeting people, we will reinstitute finds surgeries with Maidstone continuing on the 2nd Thursday of the month and all other surgeries in the following order: Sittingbourne, Canterbury, Hythe, Tonbridge, Margate Ashford Dartford and Dover.

In the meantime, the FLO will be working through treasure backlogs, self-recorded records and sorting out plans for the rest of the year, how to manage club visits in the future and a new full Kent finds with first in our new series of near and far.

We apologise for this; hope you will understand and wish all our friends a safe few months.

See you on the other side.Jo and the PAS in Kent team. March 18th 2020
