This year marks 15 years of the Portable Antiquities Scheme as a national scheme. Throughout the year we’ll be celebrating finds from each county – a find a day for the whole year! Here are the finds we’ve chosen from the county of Kent:
Medieval seal matrix (KENT-C617F2): a copper alloy ‘love and loyalty’ seal matrix.
Post-medieval bullet mould (KENT-ABA736): a copper alloy mould for casting musket balls.
Roman disc brooch (KENT-331C53): an enamelled copper alloy disc brooch.
Iron Age vessel spout (KENT-B13C33): a copper alloy animal-shaped spout mount for a vessel.
Bronze Age chisel (KENT-9E799C): a decorated copper alloy socketed chisel head.
Early Medieval brooch (KENT4547): a gilded silver Kentish disc brooch set with garnet.
Early Medieval mount (FAKL-B87573): a copper alloy mount of Irish origin showing two men wrestling.
