This year marks 15 years of the Portable Antiquities Scheme as a national scheme. Throughout the year we’ll be celebrating finds from each county – a find a day for the whole year! Here are the finds we’ve chosen from Hampshire:
Palaeolithic handaxe (HAMP-95A6F1): a flint handaxe from the Lower Palaeolithic period.
Palaeolithic handaxe (HAMP-109FAC): a flint handaxe from the Lower Palaeolithic period.
Roman spoon (HAMP-5259B5): a copper alloy spoon bowl from a Roman spoon.
Bronze Age axehead (HAMP-291EB7): a copper alloy flat axehead
Medieval harness pendant (HAMP-1B27B5): a copper alloy harness pendant with lion’s head decoration.
Early Medieval escutcheon (BERK-14BC37): a copper alloy hanging bowl escutcheon.
Medieval mount (HAMP-7FC033): a copper alloy decorative mount of unknown purpose.
