The Department for Culture, Media and Sport is seeking suitably qualified individuals to serve as the Ancient & Roman Coins member and the Medieval/Early Modern Precious Metal & Jewellery member of the Treasure Valuation Committee [TVC].
The Treasure Valuation Committee provides independent advice to the Secretary of State on the fair market value of declared Treasure finds, from England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, which museums wish to acquire from the Crown.
Its membership comprises experts on the range of antiquities submitted for valuation, and on museums and their collections. In addition, the membership includes an individual knowledgeable about the interests of finders.
For this post, applications are invited from people, with expertise either in Ancient and Roman coins or in Medieval/Early Modern Precious Metal and Jewellery, supported by experience with the commercial antiquities market for these items.
