Assistant Treasure Registrar

As Assistant Treasure Registrar, will involve you in the many stages of the Treasure process, responding to mail, email and telephone enquiries, updating files and databases, progress-chasing curatorial reports and interest decisions within The British Museum and locally with Finds Liaison Officers and museum curators, liaising with coroners over Treasure inquests, processing invoices and reward payments and helping to support the Treasure Valuation Committee.

Educated to GCSE/O level or equivalent with an experience of databases and word processing are essential. Knowledge of the types of artefacts that are Treasure and basic knowledge of the Treasure Act would be advantageous. You will have an organised approach with the ability to co-ordinate and prioritise workloads. Good written and oral communication skills are a must in order to productively liaise with internal and external contacts at all levels.
