We are looking for a lively and outgoing person to take on the role of Finds Liaison Officer for Northamptonshire. You should have specialist knowledge of finds recording and a flair for communicating the importance of archaeological heritage to people from different backgrounds.
The Portable Antiquities Scheme is a national voluntary scheme to record archaeological objects found by the public. It aims to advance archaeological knowledge and to increase opportunities for active public involvement in archaeology. The FLO post is funded by the national scheme, administered by the British Museum.
As Finds Liaison Officer you will make contact with members of the public including metal detector users, explain the aims of the Scheme and the Treasure Act to professionals and the public, and identify and record finds on the Scheme database.
