Applications are invited for an HLF-funded IFA Workplace Learning Bursary within Worcestershire's Historic Environment Record. The placement will offer a dedicated individual an opportunity for intensive engagement in the work of an HER under the supervision of the HER manager within a friendly and flexible working environment. The successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to work both on individual projects and as a team within a large archaeological service. He/She will be in the perfect position to acquire proven professional training and experience, and to develop a wider understanding of professional archaeology in England. The role will involve assisting with the creation of an index, within the HER, of all the artefacts recovered from the county, and undertaking a GIS based project to enhance the resources within the HER. This will include analysing and reporting on the projects undertaken. There may also be an opportunity to use the experience gained in this placement towards a vocational qualification in archaeological practice.
Applicants will have a degree in archaeology or related subject or the equivalent, at least one years experience as a field archaeologist and knowledge of Historic Environment Records.
